Our Journey

July 6, 2022

CASA-Trinity began its journey in 1974 with one mission. We wanted to provide high quality, accessible, and effective prevention, education, treatment, referral, and recovery services to individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

For those who might not know, the acronym “CASA” stands for “Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse”. We are a non-profit organization whose first Outpatient Clinic was in Geneseo, NY. We started off with less than 30 staff members and by the end of 2021, we have grown to a staff of over 250. We serve Livingston, Steuben, Chemung, and Tioga Counties in New York State and we also have an Outpatient Clinic in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

When it comes to the Treatment part of our organization, we offer Outpatient services with teens and adults.

Our Prevention Education not only works with school administration and staff, but we also extend out into helping parents and caregivers build better relationships with each other and children within the home. By enhancing communication skills, building trust and openness, families become stronger and more resilient to things that might otherwise cause danger or conflict.

When it comes to Recovery, support and connection are key. In 2021, we launched our Peer run Adventures in Recovery program, based out of Dansville, NY. AIR is a community of sober individuals dedicated to providing connection, peer support, and healthy fun outlets for those in recovery, their family members, and those in the community that choose to live sober. We also have Peer Recovery Specialists within all our sites that are part of a client’s treatment plan.

We’ve also been awarded funding to start Youth Clubhouses and Young Adult spaces in Elmira and Dansville, NY. Geared towards providing safe spaces for youth and young adults to come and learn new things, life skills, volunteer, and work together to problem solve and enhance these spaces.

Although 2020 put everyone in a tailspin, we received $4.5 million for residential program in Elmira, NY. In 2021, we received $3.8 million Federal grant to build CCBHC expansion project. CCBHC stands for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics. Not only does it allow us to keep our person-centered approach, but whole health approach to a client’s recovery. Connecting them to other health care providers and ensuring their getting all the health care they deserve. Now, in 2022, we are currently in the process of bringing a Methadone Clinic to Elmira, NY.

We can’t wait for the new things that come in 2022 and are thankful to be serving our communities.
