Impaired Driver Program (IDP)

During each class, instructors will provide a thorough education on high-risk alcohol and other drug choices. In doing so, educating drivers on how to identify and change high-risk behaviors that they may face in the future.
About the curriculum
Instructors use a state curriculum called, The Change Company. It is designed to help each participant reduce their risk for any type of alcohol or drug problem, while re-educating on safer driving practices.
The goal of the Change Company is to promote positive, lasting change through ‘journaling’ which also emphasizes real-life application.
Nonetheless, helping drivers to apply meaningful and relevant information to their lives and regain driving privileges.
The purpose of the IDP is part of New York State’s effort to lessen the chances of injury, disability and fatalities that result from alcohol and other drug related motor vehicle crashes.
In addition, it also reduces the risk of re-offending for another drunk driving offense.
