Dutch’s Pantry

Dutch’s Pantry is located inside our Elmira, NY Outpatient Clinic and honors the memory of Eugene “Dutch” Pettibone.

Dutch was a veteran of World War II who was instrumental in using food to build long-lasting connections between members of his family and community during times when social services barely existed.

Although he is not with us today, we honor his memory by following his lead.

This opening was made possible after receiving a start-up grant from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and will serve those actively seeking services with the Clinic.

Dutch’s Pantry will be stocked with various foods and goods, offer resources for eating healthy and ways to prepare meals.

We understand that food can be hard to come by for some of our clients, yet access to nutritious foods is part of each client’s overall wellness and enhances the outcomes of the treatment they are receiving in our clinics.

This new collaboration is in alignment with CASA-Trinity’s care of treating the whole person and not just their disease.

Dutch’s Pantry has a special meaning, as it is named after the father of CASA-Trinity’s CEO, Ann Domingos.

“Upon my Father’s passing, the team graciously honored Eugene “Dutch” Pettibone in the spirit of providing food to those in need much like others did for his family. Dutch was well known in our community for providing food and help to those in need. He believed in giving back to the community.” said Domingos. I am touched and honored that the Food Bank of the Southern Tier will partner with CASA-Trinity as we continue our commitment to meeting the needs for the people we serve.”

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier shares the belief that food has the ability to impact health in body, mind, and spirit; and we are very excited to partner with CASA-Trinity on Dutch’s Pantry. ” shared by Caitlin Price, Health & Nutrition Programs Manager at the Food Bank.
