Wouldn’t it be great if being a parent came with an instruction manual?
We completely understand and can even relate…parenting can be really hard!
Since there isn’t a training manual on being a parent or guardian, our teams have been trained in a variety of educational, evidence-based programs to support to parents, caregivers and youth that can help build stronger relationships with each other.
Not only do we work with school administration and staff, but we also extend out into helping parents and caregivers build better relationships with each other and children within the home. The goal of these efforts is to increase protective factors and reduce risk factors. By enhancing communication skills, building trust and openness, families become stronger and more resilient to things that might otherwise cause danger or conflict.
We never stop learning, right? (And what a beautiful thing!)
Here are the types of programs we offer:
Active Parenting Program (4th Edition)
This comprehensive program helps parents of children ages 5 to 12 learn to raise responsible, courageous children able to resist negative peer pressure.
Active Parenting of Teens
This program helps parents gain confidence and courage to meet the challenges (and savor the joys) of their children’s teen years.
Both programs occur in six two-hour sessions and can incorporate Group or Individual discussions.
Parenting Inside Out (PIO)
An evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral parent management skills training program that was originally created for incarcerated parents. However, this is also a great program for the community to take part in, as well!
This program is taught over the course of 12 weeks, offering (48) sessions and homework assignments.
PAX Tools
A collection of evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies to improve cooperation and self-regulation with youth. Drawing on decades of science to create strategies that support parents, youth workers, and other caring adults to create a nurturing environment to help kids thrive!
Triple P – Positive Parenting Program
This evidence-based program is designed to help parents and caregivers with children’s behaviors as they grow. By offering simple and practical strategies, you will begin building a better relationship, confidence and trust with each other. By doing so, you are preventing rebellious decisions and behaviors.
Our Triple P parenting programs cover all ages and are broken into two age groups:
-
-
- Ages 0-12
- Teenagers (12-16)
-
We offer Triple P in the following formats: Group Discussion and Seminar.
-
-
- Group Discussion: designed for short, small group sessions that offer practical advice for tackling a specific problem behavior. Each session will bring parents together who are experiencing the same parenting problem, and covers the topic. Similar to seminar, you can chose to attend one, or all of the discussion groups offered! The group session will give you tips and suggestions for dealing with your child’s problem behavior and simple exercises and information to help you try your new strategies at home.
- Seminar: designed for large groups of parents to receive informal presentations, a little like a public forum. There are three seminars in the series. You can chose to do one – or all – the choice is yours. They deal with the most common parenting issues we all face. The seminar lasts around 90 minutes, leaving time at the end to answer any of your questions, but you won’t need to speak up if you don’t want to.

Resilience and Thriving
Learn Resilience skills and go from Coping to Thriving. Resilience & Thriving: The Secret Power of Stress course provides easy-to-use and practical skills for identifying and reducing stress at home and work.
Other resources we love:
SAMHSA.gov has some great publications on talking to teens about various topics regarding experimenting with substances, getting ahead of a problem, and how to find help if it’s needed.
Teens.drugabuse.gov is another one of our favorites because it speaks to science-based facts about drug use. Provides information for teens, teachers, parents and more!
Searchinstitute.org has been doing research on kids for over 40 years and their 40 Developmental Assets is our trusted resource for the way we do our work. It encourages kids to learn and thrive, while allowing them to be part of the decision-making process.
